Whatcha doing this weekend?

I don’t write about upcoming events a lot – there’s a time factor and distance issue that I feel make for poor blog copy, but this one is shaping up to be pretty damn nifty, so I’m gonna share.

Morpheous’ Bondage Extravaganza

With 80 rope artists coming into town, and a focus on bondage, eroticism, and performance art, this should be pretty damn cool.  Seriously, 80 – from two continents!  This is the fifth year this event has happened and it’s the biggest one yet.  I’m really looking forward seeing what people bring to the table.  In years past there’s been an attitude of show up, and tie, but from what I hear around the scene, there’s a bigger focus on creating living art installations.

I’m not going to lie, I’m also interested in seeing how this pans out after moving away from a more grass roots, community focused, show up and tie style to a much bigger production.

One of the coolest parts of this years show is that it’s going to be live streamed – so if you can’t make it into Toronto (and if you’re even remotely local, you should – it’s Nuit Blanche!  All night, all art, all over the city) you can still view it online.    So far they’re keeping hush hush on the stream link at the moment, so you’ll want to be checking out Morph’s website to score that — and while you’re over there be sure to perv the video from 2010.  I love the looks on LotusLily and Cannon’s faces while they rig each other up for a duel suspension.

I should note, this is not an official part of the Nuit Blanche programming… but it is an official part of the Renegade programPro tip?  This stuff often ends up being awesome-er than the city approved program – but isn’t that always the case?

Oh – details? Sure!

Plus – keep an eye out for me!  I’m usually running around Zones A and C.  The goal this year (like every year) is to stay out until sunrise.
